Another view of what became known as a ‘Jolly Boys outing’, or in this case a ‘Jolly Boys & Girls outing’. These somewhat crude open topped charabancs date from the early 1920s and were often comprised of new coachwork attached to a WWI lorry chassis. The ride would have been pretty uncomfortable, especially with the solid rubber tyres, but a works outing to the seaside meant a day off, usually with a barrel or two of beer onboard. Happy days!
