Fat Stock Show Catalogue 1954

The Fat Stock Show Society

Since time immemorial Westerham had been host to an annual ‘Fat Stock Show’ of four-legged and two-legged livestock and farm produce. In 1944 the local farming community came together to form a Fat Stock Show Society that would organise the annual show and sale and celebrate this with a formal dinner for society members. Apart from the Westerham farms, exhibitors included farmers from Brasted, Sundridge, Knockholt, Otford, Edenbridge, Four Elms, Limpsfield, Tatsfield, Warlingham, Lingfield, East Grinstead, Whyteleafe, Chelsham, and Oxted – not forgetting an unexpected exhibitor, ‘Pride and Clarke’ of London S.W.9, who alongside their motorcycle sale-rooms in Stockwell Road, retained a small urban pig farm!
