Mill Street lady and toddler
The lady standing in the doorway of number 6 Mill Street is Florence Louisa (nee Paige) Allen, who would have been 52 in 1921. She lived at 2 Mill Street from 1891 and was still there in 1939. The lady in the hat is her daughter Ellen (nee Paige) Whitmore who married Fred Whitmore in 1915 and was 29 in 1921. The toddler is their daughter Gladys, born 1919. Ellen moved away from Mill street when she married.
Grannie Gramson’s son Thomas lived at 3 Mill Street with his family. She died in 1928. Darenth mill stands in the background of the photograph.

I believe this photograph shows Florence Louisa (Paige) Allen standing in the doorway, not Grannie Gramson. Flo would have been 52 in 1921. She lived at 2 Mill Street from 1891 and was still there in 1939. The lady in the hat is her daughter Ellen (Paige) Whitmore who married Fred Whitmore in 1915 and was 29 in 1921. The toddler is either their daughter Gladys, born 1919 or Doris 1921. Ellen moved away from Mill street when she married. Grannie Gramson’s son Thomas lived at 3 Mill Street with his family. Have to say what a fabulous photograph for the family to treasure, do you know the origin Harry Planche?
