This photograph was taken in 1967, the year Wolfe garage was moved to its current position on the London Road. Shown here from then left, ‘Mac Fisheries’, now (2018) ‘Stile at Ivy House’, Wolfe garage became Barclay’s Bank for many years and is now ‘Ellenor’, a charity shop, and it can be seen that Boots the Chemist were the original guilty party in the inappropriate frontage of the building that has been perpetuated by the current Dispensary on that site. It is interesting to note that the building had been a chemist since the birth of commercial photography in the late 1840s starting with William Fox.
