J. H. Jewell stationers, late 1800s

The lady in the crinoline frock and shawl is standing in the doorway of the shop which is today (2018) ‘Steamer Trading’. In the late 1800s when this photograph was taken, it was the ‘Stamp Office’, business premises of Joseph Henry Jewell, bookseller and stationer and one of Westerham’s photographers at the time, specialising in ‘Cartes de Visite’ portraiture minatures.
