In 1960 WADS gave a reprise performance of ‘Five Birds in a Cage,’ a one-act play they had first staged in April 1929. Written by Gertrude Jennings in 1915, the play was billed as ‘an exuberant social satire’ concerning five characters caught in a London Underground lift in which the hierarchy of class is temporarily turned on its head. This later performance was Produced by St Mary’s School Headmistress Rhoda Cutbush for a select audience following the years’ WADS AGM in the WI Hall
