…Members were reminded of the ‘red letter’ day of the coming summer, when the West Kent Federation will present the magnificent pageant play of ‘King Henry VIII’. This, perhaps the greatest of Shakespeare’s historical dramas, and certainly the most spectacular, is to be performed by a cast of five-hundred women, so the task which lies before the wardrobe mistresses, who are responsible for dressing the company, can only be described as Herculean!
To enable this terrific undertaking to be completed with that style and finish for which the W.I. productions are famous, sewing classes are being held weekly, and Westerham’s needlewomen are asked to rally round Miss Gosling and offer their services…
