Church of England entertainment programme 1 - the cover
Twenty three years before the formation of the town’s Senior Youth Club, young people associated with St. Mary’s Church were already coming together as a group to provide entertainment with music and plays. This programme from 1930 is typical of those events. Some interesting points that have surfaced are that there was a distinct ‘HOBA’ (Hosey Old Boys Association) involvement here, not only because John Hooker, Frank Boreham and Brian Austin were involved, but also because the little moonlight insignia woodcut print-block had been used on the back cover of the programme. This image had been adopted a couple of years earlier by HOBA as their own.
